Risk assessment and risk management are fundamental to an effective travel health consultation. Identification of travel-related hazards and the risk they pose enables the health professional and the traveller to decide the best risk management strategy tailored to the individual need. This article highlights the risks and gives health professionals strategies for communicating them to travellers.
